René Guy Cadou’s House
In the Louisfert commune, the public may visit the museum dedicated to the poet René Guy Cadou (1920-1951), which has been set up in his house adjacent to the school where he was a teacher. His life was simple, devoted to poetry. Loire-Atlantique landscapes were his favourite source of inspiration, as was his wife Hélène, the love of his life. She inspired his most beautiful poems compiled in the collection entitled “Hélène ou le monde végétal” (“Hélène or the Vegetable Kingdom”).

Le Manoir de la Renaudière
In Petit Auverné you will find the Manoir de la Renaudière, the property of the Trébuchet family, to which Sophie would remain very attached despite not living there on a long-term basis. This property in La Renaudière was sold in 1831 by the Bellet-Trébuchet heirs to Curé Thoreau. Since then it has been the vicarage in Petit-Auverné.
The footprints of the Trébuchets are still very evident in Châteaubriant where they had some business interests and lived for a while. You will discover in particular “the Sophie Trébuchet passage” and the Maison de l’Ange (the Angel’s House) located in rue de Couéré.
The Communauté de Communes de Castelbriantais has since bought the Manoir de la Renaudière and has restored and transformed it into a library, which was opened in 2012.
